(From Our Special Correspondent.) o— At tho conclusion of the Petone Municipal Band's practice last Friday nifiht it-was announced that tho sura of ~8 12s. 2d. had been forwarded as tho result or a social, organised by tho Carnation Club, in aid of tho band funds. A ladies' committee (consisting of Mesdames Baumgren. ■ U. Woodham, Greening, and Hart) worked strenuously for this gathering, and were commended tor their eilorts. • Tho amount was gratefully acknowledged. Mr. W. G. Gardner, Town Clerk of I'etonc, states that the prico of gas will not -bo either reduced or increased, but I'ill remain tho same as before.
