A Coldon Wedding. There was a large gathering in tho Bast Taieri Hall (Diiuodm) last week on tho occasion of the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Craig, who have resided in tho Taieri for 4!) years. The Ilev. A. AY. Kinmont presided. A programme of songs, leeitations, and music was gone through and much enjoyed. During an interval Mr. Kirkkild, on behalf of thoso present and other friends, presented Air. and Sirs. Craig with two handsome easy chairs, and wished them a long continuance of tho happiness they now enjoyed. Tito, chairman, tho Rev. Mr. Dickie, and .Messrs. Douglas, Blackie, Prentice, Brown, and William Shand spoko of tho esteem in which Mr. and Mrs. Craig were held.

Of New Zealand- Interest. Tho inarriago took plaeo on September 2 at Tupsley Church, _ Hereford (England), of Miss Annio Leight-on, of Hosketh Lodge, Hereford, daughter of fclio lato Rev. James Leighton, at one time vicar of Christ Church,. Nelson, to tho Rev. Philip Hoskeii. Fernandez, vicar of Howelsfield, near Tintern, and eldest son of the lato Dr. Fernandez, of Ross. Tho officiating clergy were the Itev. Canon Bannister (a friend of both tho brido and bridegroom), and the Rev. C. C. Ledger (vicar of tho parish). The service was fully choral. Tho bride was given away by her brother, Professor Gerald Leighton, of Edinburgh, and her bridesmaid was Bliss Elsie Leighton, a niece. Subsequently a reception was held at tho pnrish room, gaily bedecked with pennants and flags. The honeymoon was spent in Somerset.

Tho employment and emigration department of tho Young Women's Christian Association in London is taking active stops to ensure the right class of girls coming to tho different colonies. An English correspondent writes that Miss Dove, .M.A., who stood unsuccessfully as a candidate for the Mayoralty of High Wycombe in 1&08, and who ii tho only woman momber of the Town Council, is seeking re-election to the council against three candidates, all men, after six years' service. Miss Dove is a member of tho Higher Education Coramitteo of the Bucks County Council, president of the Wycombe High School, a governor of tho Royal Grammar School, a member of tho Borough Education Committee, and president of tho local Women's Suffrage Sccicty. For 14 years Miss Dovo was headmistress of Wycombe Abboy School, and it was on her retirement that Miss Whitelaw (Auckland) was appointed to this important position.

Tho marriago of Miss Dorothy Pirani (Feilding) to Mr. E. L. Perry will take plnco early in tho New Year. Mrs. Gawitli (Masterton) and Miss Alison Gawith aro spending a few days iii town, and are staying at Caulftokl House. Dr. Platts-Mills is spending a fewdays in tho south. Miss Mackcrras left Wellington for the Wairarapa on Saturday. Miss Violet Warburton has returned from her visit tq the Coast. Mrs. (Palmerston North) has been visiting Wangantn.' Miss Cherritt, of tho Wanganui Girls' Collcgo, was the guest of honour at a social evening, given in St. John's Hall. Miss Cherritt is leaving for England shortly. Miss Decima Horton {Blenheim) is on a visit to Wellington. Miss Amy Moss is leaving shortly on a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Tatliam, of "Homewood," Whareama, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Horner, at Marton. Mrs. W. Robieson, of "Cftvelrmds," Masterton, lias returned from a visit to 'Wellington. Mrs. Henderson (Invorcargill), Sirs. Hawkins, Mrs. and Misa Wood, and Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Ward Christchurch on Friday by the Wall inc. Mrs. J- Buchanan (Masterton) has been visiting Wellington.
