The Graduate Union of the Calcutta (India) Y.W.C.A. lias published an interesting booklet, entitled ''Somo Conditions in Calcutta." It is the of an investigation made by the Uraduato Union in tho social conditions oi Calcutta-, especially as they health, housing, industrial conditions, education, recreation, relief agencies, etc. It deals with these matters in a brief but enlightening manner. '■ Tho Y.W.C.A. national secretary lor Australasia, Miss Helen F. Barnes, is expected to arrive in New Zealand in the middle of February,, on route for America. After her visit to America, Miss llarncs will represent Aiist.rala.sia at the world's Y.W.C.A. Conference, to bo held in Stockholm in Jiinc, The second Now Zealand YAY.C.A. Conference will be hold near Christ church from about February 20, which Muss Barnes will lead. Swimming, Rambling, and Sketching Clubs, in addition to tho usual Bible studies, arc included in the new syllabus at present being circulated amongst tho members of tho Young Women's Christian Association. The Lyric Club, under tho leadership of Mr. F. S. Pope, is preparing to load in the Christmas carol service, and also to provide a concert for tho .Missions to Son men. Already a largo number of gifts for tho Christmas tree, and tea for destitute little children havo como to hand, and the members aro looking forward to this opportunity of making Christmas real.
