DAIRY CO'S COAL SUPPLIES.
(By TdcEraph—Soacial Correspondent.' Palmerston North, December 5. Though tho coal market is tight, the predicament of the dairy factories is not critical. Mr. Boiulall, secretary of the Dairy Union, says that when tho coa! strike hegan they immediately scoured supplies, and had still enough coal for another four months'. If tho strike was not over then, other supplies were procurable. Many of the country factories nso wood. Tho secretary of tho Kairanga Factory says that supplies are adequate till the end of January.
The local foot "specials," dnrin.e; the past day or two, hare been afforded a measure <vf relief by their services having been' dispensed with during tho daytime. I'lioy are still keeping watch and ward in sfju.ids during the night hours, but during the day the- patrolling >of the wlianos, and guarding the gates, is now being done by the "specials'' from the country, v.'hfi, on tho whole, rather relish the change of diity tho new charge imposes on them.
