AN EXPLANATION.

Sir,—ln publishing my letter iu your issue of the Ist. instant your P.H. says that 1 could go further in my criticism. I am thoroughly conversant with what constitutes a breach of the peace, f do not want your readers to think that I am like what the French would say, "L'enfant terrible," I merely wrote, giving what numerous correspondents failed, or were not intelligent enough to do so—a definition of the word "scab," as it is used at the present time. 1 admit that it does not sound euphemistic, but, nevertheless, 1 have quoted constituted authority on the word. Trusting this will explain the matter, and finalise the- correspondence as far as I am concerned. —f am, etc., A. POLdLE'SE LEVIN. Kent Terrace, Wellington.
