THE NEW'JUDGES.
TO BE APPOINTED SHORTLY
The Hon. A. L. Hcrdman (Minister of Justice) informed a reporter last ovotiing that tho appointment of additional Judges of the Supremo Court was not in immediate prospect. The Judicature Bill, which provides for the appointment of one additional Judge, does not como into operation until February next, and this; particular appointment will therefore lie deferred until that date. A vacancy upon tiio Judicature will be created when Sir Joshua Williams resigns _ his New Zealand appointment, in order to go to London to represent tho Dominion upon tho Judicial Committee of tho Privy Council. The resignation of Sir Joshua Williams has not yet, however, icachod the Minister. In answer to a question, Mr, Herdman stated that if Mr. Justice Sim wished to relinquish tho Presidency of tho Arbitration Court for ordinary Court Work he would no doubt be afforded an opportunity of doing so. This, of course, will mean that ono of tho two new Judges will became President of the Arbitration Court.
