THE OLD GAME.

HOMES OF AVOKKERS MOLESTED. It seems that there- is a good deal of quiet intimidation of workers who have taken the places of tho men on strike. Several of the building trade labourers who havo been on the list of strikers for tho past fortnight promised faithfully to turn to yesterday morning, but evidently their intention liad been bruited abroad, for the men failed to put in an appearance, and the assumption is that thoy had been intimidated by others unfavourable to any resumption of work. This, however, "is not tlio most serious phaso of tho matter. Instances havo occurred where workers' homes havo been visited- during their absence, and their wives frightened by threats, of a most objectionable character. Ono striker who had resumed woik informed a wharf official that pickets had visited his house and told Ins wife that in his own interest it would bo better for him to quit work. Ho reported tlio matter to the headquarters at Bucklo Street, and as the result when he arrived homo at night he found a couplo of special men on guard. Auyon'o who 13 being worried in tlto manner mentioned need only communicate with tho barracks (telephone No. 112S), and the required protection will bo immediately granted. At tho same time it would bo advisable to quietly note tlie appearance of tho pickets in order that they may bo identified should ifc bo deemed necessary to take further action in any ca3e.

r At a, well-atfendod< meeting of tlio ! 'Amalgamated Society of Jtadway Servants (I'ctono branch), hold last evening, the following resolution was carried :—"Thnt this meeting of A..S.K.S. expresses its sympathy with the wutersidcrs in their struggle for the right to organise in thfirown way and not at the dicta lion of the master clas:;, thus upholding a principle dearly bought liy unionists Iho world over. That tlio executive he tcnucsU'd to grant financial aid to the distress fund, and this resolution ho handed to the I'ress lor publication."-
