THREE FIRES AT DRAPERS

Outbreaks of lire in three of the largo est drapery stores in the city have caused a feeling of uneasiness, and a suspicion that incendiaries are at work. On Saturday'iiight there was oivoutbreak in the premises of Milno and C'iicyce, and a thousand pounds worth of damage waa done. The lire occurred at ii largo stand of fancy goods and laces near a window? about 8 p.m., though tho shop was ctos* cd at 1 p.m. Last night, about 8 o'clock, a five was discovered between two counters on tho premises of John Court, draper, Queen Street. It was extinguished before much damage was done. , Subsequently _ a quantity of carbide was discovered, indicating that the lire had started through that medium. Tho third outbreak occurred on the premises of Smith and Caughey, drapers, Queen Street. At 5 o'clock in the morning tho Fire. Brigade received an alarm from the automatic there. oniermg Iho* premises it was found that their services were only necessary to turn off tho water. It appears tho lire started in n cabinet containing reels of cotton, and oxtended to ii table containing fancy foods, all of which were destroyed. Tho heat of tiro flames had burst the glass bulb over the table, the effect being to automatically turn a deluge of water on the burning mass, Tlw damage dono is estimated at about £1000. The poiice are investigating all tlireo fires.
