MISSING LAWYER TURNS UP.
ARRESTED AT AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph,—Press Association.) Auckland, December 3. When the Maheno arrived from Sydney this morning, Detective-Sergeant Mollis and IMcctivcs Scott and Hammond arrested a iiiau who was travelling tinder the name of Watson. Tho lhari is alleged to be a .solicitor ua,mcd Oliver Noel Gillespie, who has beau missing from Fcikbng since June, and tho charge laid against him is that on or about J Hue 1. at Feslding, ho received £1700, on behalf of the trustees of tho estate of James Vile, on terms requiring him to account for tile same, and that ho failed to account for it. Prisoner stated that ho was returning to New Zealand to explain the circumstances surrounding tho transaction out of which the ckarga rose. Tho arrested man is a .member of tho legal firm of Prior, Gillespie, Miles ami Co., of' l l clldiwi. and is very well known in the fianfiifikei and Manawiifu. Tho warrant for his arrest was issued towards the end of September, consequent on his financial affairs .bring jiraslib'citi'i! by Messrs. Chrrk and Mcnzics, auditors, of Wellington.
