$ The fortnightly meeting of the Upper Halt Town Hoard was hold en Monday evening last. Present; Commissioners "\Yobb "(chairman), Ben go, Bennington, Kemp, M'Cimly, and Robertson, Commissioner Edwards was absent through illness. Messrs. Seaton 1 , Sladdcn, and I'avitt wrote stating that they had inspected the new Treiitham footpath, nnd found the work progressing most favourably. The suggestion of Mr. James Brown, senior, regarding water troughs at Upper Hutt and Treiitham was favourably received. The Railway Department's inquiry as to securing high pressure, supply for station buildings .is Ixung reported upon, whilst a letter of thanks is to be forwarded to the Department for allowing pipes to bo carried under the lino, at Waliacovillo. An extension of time in which to alter a dwelling to comply with the building bylaws was granted Mr. Howard. The Building By-Law Committee- (Commissioners Kemp, M'Cimly, and Robertson) reported upon an inspection of tho proposed laundry at Wallaceviile, and as a result of their suggestions several important alterations are being made. It was decided that ill future the wage:; of casuals bo paid every Tuesday afternoon by the foreman, thus saving about an hour per man, as against the eld system of payment. Commissioner M'Curdy's second attempt to add to tho -standing orders: "That, no person under the influence of drink be permitted to address the board or remain in tho meeting room," was severely dealt with, and the motion lapsed for want of a seconder. The waterworks hv-laws were confirmed, and Mr. W. G. Goss(« appointed waterworks inspector temporarily.
