MORE DENIALS CABLED.
TO FEDERATION MISSTATEMENTS. Two further cablegrams have been dispatched to Australia by Mr. W. 0. Foster, chairman of the local Employers', Farmers', and Citizens' Defence Committee, combatting, misstatements of the industrial position in tho Dominion, made by the Federation of Labour delegates in Sydney. One is addressed to Mr. Holman, the Premier of New South Wales, and reads as follows:—"Wellington Employers', Farmers', and Citizens' Defence Committee desires to give an emphatic_denial, to the statement of the Federation of labour representative* that the employers of the Dominion are opposed to organised labour, and wisho* to assure you that, on the contrary, they are encouraging aml supporting the registration of workers' unions under tho Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, mid desire to impress upon your Government that as all cargo is bcina handled by Arbitration unionists there is absolutely no reason why Australian unionists should refuse to work New Zealand ships at Sydney or elsewhere, or precipitate the crista indicated in to-day's cablegrams as being imminent. That being the case, it is hoped you will uso every endeavour to ! h'.nc the embargo on New Zealand vessels removed without delay. ■ Committee will gl.idly supply you with any information on request being made.— (Signed) FOSTER, chairman."
■TJio oilier* cablegram has been for- ' warded to Mr. AV.' 31. Hughes, M.l'., who, acting in bis capacity as president of tho Transporters' Federation, is providing over the big labour conference'iii Sydney. It states that: "The Emplovers' Defence Oommitteo desire emphatically to contradict tho Federation of Labour representatives' statement that New Zealand employers arc opposed to organised labour. The fact that al ! cargo" is handled by Afbilratior. unionists should result in New Zealand vessels being worked by Australian unionists, and should convince labour lead* crs that no reason exists for the ind\is* trial crisis which cablegrams indicate as imminent in, Australia!-—(Signed) FOSTER, chairman."
