EVIDENCE AT THE INQUIRY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, December I, At an inquiry regarding tho loss by fire of the Canadian Northern Steamship Company's steamer Volturno, in mid-Atlantic, with loss of life, the captain of the Volturno was unable to advance a theory as to the origin, of tho hie. The third engineer gave evidence that he drove some of the firemen below at tho point of a revolver. The remainder obeyed orders willingly when told that tho matter wa's one of life or death. Ho had threatened to ulioot anyono leaving tho stokehuld.
