It is stated ihat under the AngloTurkish Treaty, about to ho signed, Britain obtains n concession over all the oil wells in Ara-hia, Mesopotamia, and Syria, and tho frontiers of Kowoit (at tho liead of the Persian Gulf) havo been settled in accordance with Britain's demands. Tho Sultan has placed it under Turkish sovereignty, but it will be practically independent and entitled to conduct its external relations without Turkish supervision, and will directly control a large hinterland. Under the same treaty tho navigation of the Euphrates and Tigris forms tho monopoly of an international company, CO per cent, of tho interest in which is held iu England, 25 per cent, in Tur. hey. and 25 per cent, in Germany. Tho Inchcapo group of financiers represents tho British interests.
