ALLEGED CUSTOMS FRAUDS.
4OFFICIAL AND TWO OTHERS ARRESTED. (By Totoirapfc.—lT«b Association.) Christchurcli, December 2. This morning Dqtcetivo Gibson arrested three- men who arc charged with having committed theft by means of Customs frauds. One of tho men is nil officer in tho local branch of the Customs Department, and another is a Customs agent iii this city. It is stated that, tho o'liceir certified that largo quantities of dutiable goods, were free, and that specified duty was charged to merchants'who bought, goods. It is. not known yet what sum is involved. Investigations arc still being: mado in that direction, but information already available shows that tho sum is very largo. One accused will lie brought before tho Magistrate's. Court to-morrow. Tho men arrested aro J. Anderson Ganij)hell, Customs officer, H. L. Green, Customs agent, and S. J. M'Cormack, Cus-. Toms agent. ■
