"TUBE" DISORGANISED BY A SUICIDE.
TRAINS HELD UP AND IN DARKNESS. Extraordinary scenes resulted on the. Piccadilly "tube" recently from the* suicide of a well-dressed middle-aged man, who threw himself in front of a train at Holborn Station. The platform was immediately cleared, and with considerable difficulty the body was extricated. The train service between Finsbury Pari; and Hammersmith was completely disorganised for over 40 minutes on the line ois which the train was standing. To cnablo the officials to get the body from under the carriage the current was switched oil', and as a result the- lights of all thy trains on that line were extinguished. In many cases trains were brought tn a standstill between stations, and as there was no menus of communication considerable alarm was caused union;; tho passengers. In one case a train stopped for over half an hour between Holborn and Russell Square Station. It was, however, provided with a few small oil lamps, and tho passengers, instead of having to spend the 'time waiting in utter darkness, were able to walk along tlit« metals bach to Russell Square Station.
