ADDING INSULT TO INJURY.
Sir,—l' beg to call attention to another side of the result of the strike, and the impudence of tho Bed Feds. All tho sane people in the. country aro standing for law and order. Husbands, sons, and brothers wont at the first call—to be greeted with broken bottles, stones, and worse. The women faced tho painful ordeal, just in the samo spirit as did our mothers in the days when our liienkind went out to Jo b.ittlo with the Natives, and make tills grand country what it is. Do the lied Feds, think we will allow mob rule, while wo claim the blood of tho sturdy old pioneers? A thousand noes is the answer. Now for tho blemished side of the medal. Sir, I will astound you. What have, wo here? Why, the 111011 who caused all the strife, tramping tho country, and demanding food—"food they ran up to famine prices"—from tho very women whose relations t.liay have maltreated. I never expected to live to seo such infamous conduct. I hope and trust that these creaturcs will iind they have a hard row to I 100; and I won't ho astonished if they meetwith warm receptions: and richly they doserve it. Why should they batten on tho pillars of tho State? —I am. etc., OLD PIO.XEJ3B, Taranaki.
