BOOTMAKERS MEET.
At a meeting of tins Wellington Bootmakers' Union, hold last night, it was decided to support. Mr. J. A. ."Vi'Cullough as workers' representative in th« Court of Arbitration', and jlr. W. T. Youug as deputy representative. A letter was received from the Trades and Labour Council secretary (Mr. L. M. A. Keardoii) in tlio following terms: "I have been instructed by .the above council to convene a meeting of two representathes of all unions not on strike for tho purpose of considering tho crisis as it now stands, and tho practicability of setting up a strike settlement committee. The mcoiiwi will take place in tlw Trades Hall, Cuba Street, on Wednesday, December 3, at S p.m." It appears that tho object of the meeting is to i;ive i!u'> question impartiol consideration and to exclude any prejudice that might into tho busiives-s o? the mooting if those actually connected with the strike were present. _ The union passed a _ resolution expressing the opinion liuit the United Federation of Labour was tho oniv party to deal with the question, and decided not to send a representative to tho meeting. The Sawmill Workers' Union, says a Press Association telegram from luvercargill, voted £20 as a first instalment towards the strike fund. A -Royal salute was fired by 11.51.5. Psycho at- noon yesterday in honour of tho hiifhday of the Howajjer Queen Alexandra. Tlio warship was gaily decorated with bunting throughout' tlio dav in honour of the event.
