CITY FACTORIES RESUME.

After a temporary stoppage caused by tho heavy rain on Saturday, work was resumed in earnest on tW LytU'l-t-on waterfront this morning, and tho port was busier than it has been for nearly iweivo months iwst. Practical* ly every ship at the wharves was work" iiig cargo, and tho output was very satisfactory. Except at those ships which were employing their own crws, tile- members of tho new Arbitration Union were working, and every available man was fully employed. The Miion, which has been steadily (.'.rowing in numbers, received several additions to» day. but t'iicro is still room for 1110.0 men. She will be absolutely a full ship w'li-en she leaves ■Wellington on December 20. The Rinrataka is loading 10,006 boxes of butter and about 800 crates 0: c'hcese at Lyttolton. The A. and A. Line steamer Miftiiro was to haro been dispatched 011 Saturday, but was blocked hy rain. She started again this morning, and is expected to sail to-night for JDunediu. Tiio Al a rare will sail on Wednesday for Dunedin.
The ferry steamer Pateena. pat in a very busy day's ivork and landed 1 .about 150 toils of cargo, ciii-eiiy transhipment r from Wellington. Site also loaded sovoral trucks of cargo booked for that port. The Morning Liglit has finished discharging, and is ?so\y loading produce for Nelson, and.the Waitapu, Aratapu, and Eliza Firth will lie loading about Wednesday for Kaipara. T'iio scow Eunice will sail for Havc.lork tomorrow or Wednesday to load timber for lyttoltoii. After shipping stores for the southern lighthouses i;lio Government steamer Hinewoa sailed this afternoon. She called at Gudley Head, and will proceed tlienco to Akaroa Head and tlio southern lighthouses aud West Coast sounds arii liays. Shortly after 11 a.m. the Canterbury -Shipping Company's steamer Storm arrived from Wanganni with a shipment of cattle, which were landed at tha cattle jetty.
Works Resuming. The workers vviio wer® thrown out of employment owing to the port being closed, and to the stdlw of drivers, are rapidly resumhig work. To-day all departments of tho Miss Foundry (Messrs. Scott Bros., Ltd.), with tho exception of tho moulding shop, were in full swing, and tho majority of tha hands sit the Atlas confectionary works, and at Messrs. Aulscbriiok and Company's biscuit and cMsfectkmery works were again in employment. Other trades affcctal are gradually resuming active operations. "Wort? on* No. 2 loan area in tho borough of. Spfeydon was resumed this morning. All • tho old hands returned. Very few special constables were to bo seeu in town to-dav. "The Strike Bulletin." Notice was seryed on Mr. E. J, Howard, of the Strike Committee, by tho polico to-day _in connection with a publication which tho Strike Committee has been issuing. Ho is called upon to appear beforo tlio Magistrate tomorrow at noon, when an application will be made for leave to commence a prosecution against him under Section 11 of the Law of Libel Act Amendment, 1910, for a publication in "Tho Christciiureh Strike Bulletin," dated November S3, tinder tho heading, "Scabs, Mate and Female." Tho notice is issued by Mr. T, W. Stringer, K.C., Crown Prosccutor. It is understood that similar notices are being served on Messrs. Kllis, M'Conib, Hunter, Sullivan, Howard, Lurch, nnd Thorn, who are understood to bo also members nf the Strike Committee, under .whose official authorisation "Tho Strike Bulletin" is issued.
