THE COMMISSIONERS' REPORT APPROVED. The roeent report of the Public Ser< vice Commissioners was the subject of seme discussion at tho ■ meeting oi tho council "f tho Chamber of Commereo yesterday afternoon, and thono who had read tlm report were unanimous in their expression of anproval of tho suggestions contained '.lie it its. Mr. J. G. Harkness spoke at soma length, renewing several of tlus clauses in tho report, wliicli. lie_ said, if carried out, would be of uniwfsal benefit t<i tho 'commercial men of tho Dominion. Ho moved tho following resolution:—"ln tho opinion of this council, the first report of tho Public Service Commissioner of great value, and if tho I'cfonils- therein proposed are given effect to, and tho Public Service reorganised as suggested, iucakulablo benefits will bo ctntferrcil unon Urn commercial community of tho Dominion." _ ' In seconding tl>® lotion. «bir-h wns carried unanimously, Mr. J. Mackintosh said that the adoption of the report would mean greater efficiency, ecsmimy, aud expedition in the service, and for Civil SorviiKts, a better tenure and hotter conditions.
