PLENTY OF FUEL.
THE BUSH TO DO ITS PART. The Employers', Fanners', and Citizens' Defence Conunitteo have the fuel problem well in hand, and from what is known, none of tho big industries is likely to be stuck up. Some of tho larger industries in Wellington wero prepared for a strike, and havo anything from six to twelve months' supply of coal and coke. A good many cargoes of coal on tho high seas bare been diverted to New Zealand, and will arrive during the course of tho present month. Others are being satisfactorily arranged for. The committee desires that all users of coil for industrial purposes, who buy in wholesalo jjuantities, should communicate with Sir. Win. l'ryor (general secretary) at once, in order that tho first opportunity may bo taken by them of replenishing stocks Another factor that is going to play a part in tlio fuel question will bo 0 utilisation of a good deal of bush and mill waste, which heretofore has been burnt 011 the spot as refuse. There is said to bs an. almost unlimited supply of this class of fuel, which is stated to bo just as effective as coal for firing certain boilers. It is understood that an Arbitration Miners' Union will shortly bo formed in New Zealand.
