"RING AND WALK UP."
THE POLICE RAID A MASSAGE ESTABLISHMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrteli I, "Times"—Sydney "Sun" Special Cables. London, November 29. Tlio London County Council recently received assurances that many massage establishments were merely disorderly houses, -which were making largo sums of money. Tlio council, therefore, decided to apply to Parliament for power to insist on tho registration of such establishments. Following this announcement, a massage establishment in Thaycrs Street was raided by tho police, who obtained access by a side-door, having a brass plate, bearing the inscription: "Ring, and walk up." The. police found that the premises consisted of four bedrooms, a sittingroom, and a dining-room, the tenant (Violet Grey), two young women, and an elderly.man being in tho bedroom. "When the parties appeared in Court, tho Crown Prosecutor said: "Tho case will open tlio eyes of tlio public as to tho naturo of these establishments." The hearing was adjourned.
