MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
•THE POLICE CASES. Mr. .G. Tiiddnll, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Arthur i!oddv was fined £2, in*default seven days' imprisonment, for tlio theft of a pair of boots belonging to John l'eary. Allowing a horse to wander at, large was tho charge against Thomas Hitchcock. A fine of ss. was imposed, and tho defendant was ordered to pay Court I costs 95.,- and witness's expenses 4s. Charles -O'Connor admitted that he crossed a railway line when a train was approaching. He was fined 10s., together, with witness's expenses 4s. and Court costs 9s. Time was allowed in which to find tho money. Thomas Patcrson, against whom there were several previous convictions, was declared a habitual drunkard and fined 405., in default to undergo seven days' imprisonment. A. prohibition order was issued against him. Mira Cooper, charged with drunkenness,, was lined £3, in default to undergo 21 days' imprisonment. Fivo first offending inebriates wore convicted, one (a female) being discharged without a line, and tho other four being penalised with lines of 10s. CIVIL SIDE. C. J. Johnson, builder and contractor, of AVellington, proceeded against IJobort Hannah, boot manufacturer, Wellington, to recover £9G Is. Gd. as balauco of a sum o£ £216 Is. Gd. for material and work done. The work included alterations and additions to defendant's motor garago at his residenco iu Boulcott Street. After hearing ovidonco, -Mr. J. S. Evans, S.M., gave judgment for tlio amount claimed, less £10 and costs. Mr. C. If. Izard appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. A. W. lllair for defendant.
