A RISKY PROCEEDING. (By Teloeraph-PrcoS Association.! Chrlstohurch, November 27. Robert James Dougall, a voiing man was charged before Mr. H. 'W. Bishop, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court to-day, Willi being n rogue and vagabond, in that ho was found yesterday armed with an offensive weapon, to wit' a bludgeon, with felonious intent. Accused said the whole affair was a joke, and he, with a "mob" of other fellows, was only acting the. goat. The Magistrate: A rather dangerous way of "acting tho goat" when the whole city is excited. .Senior-Sergeant Malhieson said accused's statement was quite correct. There was a mob of youths, and they were all armed with batons. They went about accosting people and endeavouring to create, a disturbance. Accused had n hid record. Tho Magistrate said that altered the ease, and sentenced accused to M days' imprisonment, niili hard labour.
