Mcsskj. W. and G. Turnhull and Co., Ltd., report having lidUl their weekly sale in their Waipoua, (Jlastorton) foleyards .on Wednesday, when they offered a Rood yo riling of sheep and cattle, well above advertised numbers. Competition was fairly keen throughout, «hut vendors' prices on several lines ot cattle were above : buyers' ideas, coiidctiueiitly there wa-j not a clearance, although the bull: of tho yarding changed hands at 1 the following rates:—Sheep: Two-tooth ewes and wethers (shorn), lis. 7d.j for empty shorn owes, lis. 9d. to 13s. 6a\: potter rams, Its. 6(1. Cattle: Two and a half-year steers, £5 Bs.: two year-old empty heifers, £Z Us. to JEo 17s. 6d.; cows and calves. £4 to £4 35.; store cows, £3 ss. to £3 155.: c-mall year steers, £2 to £2 Ms.: small year heifers, £1- 10s. to £1 16s. On account of Mr. H. T. Hume, Polled-Angus bulls, 17gn& to 17feus. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.. report:—We had a fair entry ot cattle at l'ahiatua on Tuesday, but there were not many buyers present, and consequently competition waa nono too brisk. However,, during the sale and afterwards we made a good clearance at the following rates:—Eightccn-mouth heifers, £3; yearling heifers, £2 lis.: u-pringing heifers, £5 ss. to £5 12s. 6d.; fat cows, £5 12s. 6d.; bulb, £2 10s. to £Z.l(,i. The New Zealand Lsan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Kolwuy on Wednesday wo had only a small yarding of sheep, which wo submitted to the usual attendance, of buyers. Competition was keen, and we made a total clearance under the hammer. Fat at.'d forward flhoru cwp3 made l'r,.; woolly hoggets, 175.; ehorn two-tooth, mixed scs, lis. 4d.
