THEIR REFUSAL TO STRIKE. <By Tdetrauli-Fraia Aesoeintlou.) Dunodln, November 21. About 120 or 130 members attended a special meeting of the Carters' Union to-night for the purpose of considering whether the union should instruct its members not to cart goods to or from any steamers whieli were being loaded or unloaded by Arbitratjonists. The first business beforo tlio meeting was the request that two members of the Waterside Workers' Strike Committee should be allowed to address it. A carter moved, however: "Thai (lie members of she committee referred 1o be allcwud to deliver addrOssos at the
conclusion of Iho business," ami this was agreed to by a good majority. The question of whether" the* union should call its members out on strike next came up for decision, nnd, after a somewhat lengthy discussion, the union, by a substantial majority, decided not to come out, TlijJ Carters' Union is registered under the Arbitration Act, hut is also affiliated: to tlio Federation of Labour, and a discussion arose whether the manner in which tbe union had becomo affiliated to the Federation was in order. Seeing the small number of members who voted on tho question, ■it was decided to obtain legal advice as to whether tlio affiliation was iti order. During tlio evening tbe secretary of the union (Mr. J, I). Smith) tendered bis resignation.
