CAUGHT ARMED.
IN THE GUISE OF A SPECIAL. (By Telegraph—Frees Association.) Auckland, November 21. At the Police Court, Charles Georgo Chatfield, who iwas arrested by a special constable last Friday, having in his possession two revolvers, was charged that ho attempted to murder Cecil Lynch. Evidence was given that accused was wearing a special constable's badge, and when questioned 110 attempted to bolt. He was found to be carrying two revolvers, both fully loaded. It was alleged that accused pointed one of tho revolvers at Lynch's head, and that ono special knocked his hand up, and another threw him. Chatfield pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence. Ho was committed for trial. Bail was allowed in one surety of £100, conditional that accused did not reside in Auckland or its vicinity during tho next two months.
