Darling granted a stay of execution for costs amounting to £2600 in tho recent libel action Richard Wootton versus Robert Sievier, in which the plaintiff was awarded one farthing damages. Tho latter's counsel urged that if the appeal were ..successful it might bo necessary to sue for costs in Australia, whithor the Wuottons (father and sons) wore proceeding. Mr. Justico Darling remarked that he had doubted at tho timo of tho judgment whether he ought not to have deprived plaintiff of costs. Ho was not glad the case was going to appeal.
