ROYAL ARTILLERY BAND.

.-The Royal Akiffery Band, of Woolwich, England; which will give concerts m the Town Hall on .Thursday Bvenmg and Friday; afternoon next week, is one of two or three famous combinations which hold a quiet rivalry for absolute supremacy in the world. Ine Auckland Exhibition authorities count themselves remarkably fortunate m having, secured sucli air exceptional musical attraction. It was found convenient for the band to reach New Zealand : byMvay; of Dunedin, wEero'.it is due to-day,'and 'arrangements'were'accordingly madeto give- .tho-.public as many opportunities of hearing it on its way to Auckland'as possible, and concerts, have been fixed for each" of the three centres on the way. The band consists of 44 performers, under the baton of that famous bandmaster, Mr. C. ii. Stretton, and it is equipped with a wide range of .brass and woodfwind instruments,'enabling it to produce the most elaborate mus'ic with richness and variety of colour.. ..The ; programmes selected for the touring concerts are chosen to appeal to all, comprising a large number of popular favourites of various classes. -The band will leave Auckland for London direct at' the close of its engagement at the Exhibition. Mr. J. Dykes has been appointed representative of the band in Wellington!
