■ . STRENGTH, 850. EIGHTY OF OLD UNION JOIN. The mefnbership of tho new.union of waterside workers, the Arbitration Union, reached 850 yesterday. ranks were swelled by 70 from Tarana.ki, who arrived on, Monday evening The number, which was added to the roll yesterday, is about 100. Altogether about 80 members of the old union have joined the new body, About 30 joined yesterday. JViost of theso have already started work. The bringing of men from the country has been stopped for"* a while at least, and members of the old union, now have a chance to go back. Now that tho union is gaining strength, a. few country workers who do not intend to remain permanently in Wellington will ho relieved of duty.
