WOMEN AND CHILDREN OF TENDER YEARS. BISHOP FILLED WITH SHAME. By Telegraph—Press Association— Oopyrieht London, November 17. The Duchess of Marlborough presided at tne Anti-Sweating Conference. She deckred that thousands of women wero toiling long hours for from six to eight shillings weekly, and that child workers of a tender age 'were receiving a mere pittance. Over '300,000 organised women workers earned less than 12s. a week. Several sweated persons addressed the conference. TKe Bishop of Oxford (Dr. Gore) said he was filled with shame' at the Churches' attitude. He asked why it had been left to Larkin to call attention to Dublin's misery when the Church was there which claimed tho support of the poor.
