. ALLEGED FALSE INVOICES. , By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrleht London, November 17. Ralph Milburn, Walter John Kemsley, Edward William Idle, Bruco Anthony Cuthbertsbn, and Alfred Edward Kemsley were charged on remand today with conspiring with Raymond Ewart Komsley, William Crowle, Cecil Thomas Bray, Charles Brown Kellow, Isaao Phizackorley, and others to defraud His Majesty's Customs'of duty on motor-cars, cycles, Mres, and accessories imported into Australia by means of false invoices and declarations, between January, 1905, and June; 1910. After Mr. Ncal, an officer of tho Commonwealth Customs, had been further cross-examined, Mr. Shorland, manager of tho Clement-Talbot Company, favo evidence that a clerical'. mistake, ad been mado in charging defendants for new tires attached to chassis when the tires wero really second-hand. He produoed a letter from his company to the defendants, in which reference was. made to alterations in certain invoices, and it was stated that the company was only doing it at defendants' roquost, on the understanding that defendants took tho responsibility. Witness declared that the letter had not l;*en dictated by him, though it might have been writton- after discussion between him and one of the defendants. The further hearing of the case has been adjourned until Wednesday next.
