TYPOGRAPHICAL UNION.
x REFUSES TO STRIKE,
The Federation of Labour tried very hard to induce the Typographical Union to go on strike and close down the daily newspapers. At' a meeting on Saturday evening after tho members had rejected tho strike proposal on an open vote, Mr. Hickov is reported to have thrown overboard his principles and pleaded for a secret ballot—-any-thing to out off the free expression of public opinion through tho Press. It was of no avail, however, mid "the wreckers of labour unionism," as the Federation 01" Labour'Jiavo been accurately dubbed, are disappointed of another hoped-for victim.
Tho following fe tho resolution which was passed with only two. or three. disJentients: —"That this union, being of Opinion that 110 good purpose would be served by ceasing work, declines the invitation of the Federation of Labour to join tho rank's of the strikers."
