HOTEL STRIKE OVER.
NEW UNION FORMED. Auckland, November 14. The strike of hotel employees is at an end. Over 200 employees of all classes have- applied for reinstatement and havo formed a now. union. Tho
I unionists intend to apply for registration. Up till noon tho Licensed Victuallers' Association had received about 150 applications from persons desiring employment in tlio hotels of tho city. Hitherto tho licensed houses havo mado their engagements through tho office of tho union, but sinco tho calling out of tho employees on Saturday last to join the general strike, the association lias decided to invite- applications, and make appointments through its own office. Thoso desirous of employment include. a large proportion of former employees who showed a disposition to remain loyal to their employers when tho strike, was declared, and it is anticipated that no difficulty will bo experienced in starting work in tho hotels on tho customary scale, as soon as thoy aro reopened. All tho city restaurants and tea rooms continue' to carry on their business without trouble. In this connection tho statement shpuld he- mado that tho executive of the Butchers' Union deny the authenticity of tho rumour that they had directed that restaurants should not ■bo supplied with meat during the currency of the strike. no resolution bearing on this subject having been passed.
