Tho news being communicated to Mr. Odlin, he at once rang up the Buckle Street Barracks, and within a few minutes a troop of ten mounted special men galloped to the scene. On their appearance, the pickets scattered. After the incident the driver proceeded on his way, and was not subjected to further interference. Pickets were also seen in ! the. vicinity of Munt, Cottrell and Co, , s and other stables of carrying firms in tho city, but tlrey 'wore unsuccessful in getting any of the carters to cease work.
