WANCANUI.
At a combined meeting of the Aramoho Burgesses' Society and the Aramoho branch of tho Beautifying Society, held on Thursday evening, it was decided to amalgamate- the two bodies ;■; under the name Aramoho Burgesses' 1 Association. The Mayor (Mr. Lomax) \' was elected patron, Mr : C. P. Brown president, Mr. C. L. Bridges vice-presi-dent, Mr. H. Bobbins secretary, and the Rev. W. B. Scott treasurer. Considerable discussion took place on the borough*building.by-laws which, it was stated, were allowing an inferior class of residence to be put up—particularly in Araraoho—and it was decided to make representations to tho Borough Council on the matter. According to the chairman of the Wa- ■ liganui Education. Board there are eomo .voung teachers who arc evading their responsibility in,the matter of attending tho traininc college, and though really bound by law' to do so, are studying for examinations and remaining at teaching at tho same time, frequentlv , at cost to. their health and the neglect, of school work. The board lias decided •tii notify all junior teachers that, unloss they spend their prescribed period i at the Training College, their services will be dispensed with.
