THOMAS BARKER'S ARREST.
TO APPEAR HERE. (By Telesrapk.—Frees Association.) Auckland, November 12, Thomas Barker, a strike leader, and all organiser far tho 1.W.W., was arrested oil a chargo of using seditious language at 'Wellington, fie was remanded to appear at AVoHington, Bail, in the sum of £250, was allowed. The charge against Barker is that ho used the following words at Wellington oil October 29, in the presence of a large number of waterside workers J— "You should husband your re* sources and cope in. such a, way with the situation as to make Wellington a second Johannesburg. You do not know tile moment when such a situation may arise. The strike will probably affect not Wellington only, but the whole of the Dominion. The employers of No.w Zealand arc .not more civilised than those of other countries; whilst they own the workers' bread tliey d«ny the workers' right to work for it. When trouble arises they will not hesitate to give them a feed of lead. Every economic is settled ,by force. It is a question which side can exercise the most force."' Bait was fixed, accused in a bond of £200 and one surety <of £2€o. This was supplied.
