RECENT- LAWLESS ACT.
DENOUNCED BY MINERS. !J3y Mesrs-pli—Yiesa Association.) i Westport, November 12. A meeting of Denniston miners was held to-day, Mr. J. Brown presiding. The chairman made- reference- to the recent attempt tt> blow up tho brake wheel-house, and again appealed to the, meeting to do its utmost to prevent acts of yiolenec during the strike, Mr. V. Graham vigorously denounced the attempt on the brake-hoijse as the work of a foul nomad. Messrs, Hawker, ■Stokes, and Diamond also spolce. and strongly condemned such an action as diametrically opposed to tho interests of strikers. Tho meotifig unanimously carried the following resolution: "That this meeting of the Denniston Minors' Union strongly exhorts its members to refrain from any act of violence or injury to property during tho present crisis, and further views with gravo concern the reeent attempt made upon the brake-head machinery, and pledgor itself to assist in every way possible in preventing similar acts, as our lmttlo can bo fought and won without resorting to such tactics."
