METHODISE SYNOD
DISTRICT STATISTICS. Tho sittings of the Wellington Methodist Synod commenced yesterday inoniing at !J o'clock in the W-esley Schoolroom, 'I'aranaki Street. The Rev. S. J. Serpell, chairman of tho district, pre. r sided. Delegates from tho various circuits were present. After the devotional exorcises, the Rev. B. H. Ginger was appointed secretary; the Revs. S. 11, B, I'eryman, A. M. Bain, C. J. Cossum, assistant secretaries; tho Revs. W. S. Pottef and J. Southern, reporters to the local press; Mr. F. Chinchen, reporter to the ".Methodist Times." f Leavo of absence was given- to tho Revs. A. 8.. Redstone, W. Kirk, and G. S. Cook owing to illness. Rcferenco was mad© to tho death of the Rev. W. Tins icy during the year. It was decided to rearrange tho boundaries of tho Taranaki Street Circuit, 'Webb Street Church to be amalgamated with the Central Mission. Tho following aro the statistics ( of tho district, as submitted by the' Rev. I'. .J. Cossum, secretary :—Churches, 41; preaching places, 31; schoolrooms, 21; parsonages, 13: ministers, 24; • homo missionary, 1; deaconesses, 2; local preachers, 86; class leaders, 15; church members, 251(5; members on trip,], 33; public worship, 8971; schools, 46; teaehors, 425; attendance, 351; church members, 374; scholars," 4071; attendance, 2829; church members, 208; junior members, 450; members this year, , 84; raised for Homo and Foreign Mission, £188 Bs. 7Jd.
• The report of tho Church Properties Committee was submitted by the secretary (Mr. H. T. Grave). It showed that the properties were ill a good position and reductions on the debts had boon made. Mr. Grave was heartily thanked for his lucid, report and nominated for reappointment.
The report-of the Wellington Education Trust Board was received and adopted and forward,ed to tho conference.
The reports from the various circuitsfor Foreign Missions showed about £330 had been raised. The circulation'of the "Missionary Review" was encouraging. It was decided to recommend the conference to take steps to try and sccure the services of the Rev. V. Trigg for another year as Missioner in New Zealand.
