U.S.S. CO.'S LAUNDRY HANDS.
ANNUAL PICNIC. Employees of the U.S.S. _ Company's laundry and their friends journeyed to Maidstone Park on Saturday, November 8, The weather was fine, and & most enjoyable day 'was. spent. 'Eeeii compf'tition ensued for the prizes, which were presented to tho successful competitors by Mrs. Rhodes. Dinner, was stiivcd at the Provincial Hotel, after which a unanimous vote of thanks to the, company- for their donation was cariicd with -cheers, tho name of the laundry malinger being also associated with, tile vote. The hope was also expressed that the present impediments to" the carrying on of the company's business .would .soon be overcome, and that- this laundry'employees, at any rate, appreciated the fairness, and consideration of the U.S.S. management. The prize-winners worelooyds. . handicap, Mis* M'Queen; 100 yds. handicap, Mr. ■1)1X011; 50yds. sack race, Miss King; GOyds.. sack, race, Mr! Warcupj ?syds. handicap, Misa Reeves: lOO.yds, handicap, W. Prior; long jump, Mr. H. Nilsoni; thread-tlie-noedic race, Miss Hastings and Mr. Hart ; tug-of-war, won by the ladies; lOOytk. handicap (manager's special prize), Miss M'Quoon; 100 yds. handicap (manager's special prize), Mr. Andrews. Other prize-winners were;— Misses Chn-Tjmaii, Christie, Ifranklyii, Mitchell, Edwards,, Reeves, Lconcr. Matson, Mrs,- Hedley, Mr. Kennedy, and Mr. Mitchell. Every child also recpivtd a prize. ■ ,
