FOR STONE-THROWERS AND ViLIFIERS. - CAPTURES AND ARRESTS. SCENES ON HOMEWARD MARCH. On tho ride homo to barracks of tlio day guard from the wharves, the pathways rang with friendly cheers along the route from - knots of people, who stopped to admiro tho troopers, who made a very fine show. It was evidenced on Friday evening that tho "specials" had been given more rope in dealing With strikers and their sympathisers. When the squadrons wero passing up Tory Street, a man was seen to throw a stone- from his own residence, aftd then to dart indoors. In a flash tho squad had halted, a couple of "specials" dismounted, dashed into tho house, and brought out tho cowardly ruffian, who Was handed over to tho police. There were four other "language incidents" in Tory Street. In cash case roughs had hurled tho "scab" and other insults at the specials, and every oiie of them teas picked out, sefeed, and handed over to the police. The strikers and their sympathisers are being taught in a pretty salutary manner that tho keepers of the King's peace must not- be insulted. There was one other incident on Saturday that is worth recording. By some means or other some snen had got insido the lines who had no business there, and being there could hot, control their tongues. One muttered something about a "scab" in the hearing of a lusty "special." . Taking the insult to ho directed to him, the special asked the roan to repeat- it at his own Tisk. Ho foolishly dkl so, and tho next moment hti was sprawling, on tho wltarf as tho result of a straight left.
