DUNEDIN MOVING.
NEW UNION OF WATERSIDERS (By Teleeraph.—Proes Association.) Dunedin, November 7. A meeting of waterside workers Was held this morning., and, as an outcome, a new union was. formed under tho Arbitration Act. The necessary papers were filled in, officials were appointed, and steps were taken for registration this afternoon, ]fc is stated that a membership of at least 100 is expected by -Monday, on which day the work of discharging the steamers lying at the wharves will probably be commenced. Tho employers do not anticipate any , trouble from the strikers on the com- ' mencoment of operations. This afternoon the strike committee issued the following statement to tho Press:—"Seven of the members of tho Waterside Workers' Union were seen coming out of a hall (named) frith an ex-Mayor and managing director of a carrying company. It is stilted that they wero there for tho purpose of forming a union under the Arbitration Act. Tho committee also_ announce the receipt of tho following telegram from the secretary of tho Tlnited Federation! —"Further negotiattona in progress. Fight on." ' Those in need received strike pay thfs morning from tho funds of tho local union, which are said to be about £300.
