CITIZENS' DEFENCE.
SPECIAL MEN, CONGRATULATED.
At a meeting of the Wellington Citizens' ■ Defence Committee last evening, telegrams were received from different organisations throughout tho Dominion, indicating that employers were firm m maintaining the attitude of insisting upon the registration _ of _ watersiders unions under the Arbitration Act. • Information was received from thd special constables at Bucklo Street that tntfy wero prepared to remain in \\ellinton to "see the ■ business through. It was decided that. a lotter be sent to the officers in charge] expressing appreciation of tho services which were being rendered by the mounted constables, and satisfaction was also oxpressed at their assurance that . they were determinfed -to'.'stand'byiitheuemT; ployers. A Oamp ; Committee wasformed to provide the troopers with extra provisions and to arrange if possible for the men's entertainment in the.evenings. Satisfaction was- expressed at tho formation of a new union, which was reported to be over 200 strong.
