POSITION INTOLERABLE.
MR. GUNSON AND AUCKLAND ! WHARVES. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) Auckland, November 7. "The time has now arrived when, with the protection available, we are resuming control of our wharves," said the chairman of tho Harbour Board (Mr. J. H. Gunson) this evening. "The conditions which have obtained this week on tho waterfront can no longer be tolerated. : Naturally, owing to the abnormal state'of the snipping of the port it will not be possiblo to resume immediaieiy, but tho best will I'e done this week and nest week to bring the conditions back to something approaching a normal state. This will bo difficult, and, of course, one cannot now say what will eventuate." ".Tho board is fully alive to tho position," Mr. Gunson continued, "and the public can take my assurance that everything possiblo will bo dono to meet tho interests of the trade of tho port."
