AN APPEAL TO JOCKEYS.
BY'STRIKE;PICKETS. . (By Telegraph.—Pross Association.) Auckland, November 5. Before the racing commenced, at Ellerslio to-dav tliero was a persistent tuinour that the strikers would prevent certain horses from starting. This morning pipkets visited the residences of the boys engaged to ride the ! animals in ouestion, but after the position, had Eeen pointed out to them that under the Rules of Racing it was compulsory for tho boys to fulfil their engagements, the leader of tho pickets gavo his assurance that no attempt would be made io prevent the horses 'from racing.
