Coaling operations were carried on without let or hindranco all day, tho full supply being shipped. Tho 'only other ships at the wharf wore tho Opouri, Cygnet, John Anderson, and the harbour traders, three schooners, and the coal hulks. At a late hour last night tho Storm arrived at the-Heads from Nelson. Slio ,was empty, and had been delayed by a strong southerly_ 'gale. Tho steamer communicated with the signalman by Morse lamp, and received orders to propeed to limaru. At 1.30 a.m. tho Pctono entered tho Heads .with a shipment of cattle from Wanganui. S'ho also was behind time, having been delayed by a .gale. Tho Petone remained at anchor in the stream until 5.35 a.m., when she landed her cattle, no pickets being present to interfere. At noon today the Union Company's oollier Flora, one of the six vesiels at'anchor in tho stream, paid her crew off
