CLERGYMAN IN STOKEHOLD.
MAPOURIKA'S TRIP. (Br Tolcuraph.—Press Anoolatlon.l Chrlstchurch, Novembor 4. Tho Mapourika arrived at Lyttelton at 3.35 p.m., and was met by two or three hundred strikers. Thero was no trouble of any kind. Tho vessel left Wellington ono liroman short, tho men having agreed to do so before they left. On tho way down a young clergyman, who was a passenger by tho vessel, volunteored for duty in tho stokehold. Ho was very sea sick, but his services were accepted,' and ho showed himself quite capablo to tako his part, although ho was suffering a good deal from sea sickness. Ho kept going till midnight, and, this morning, ho was in ln's hunk, still unwell, but ho turned to afcain, in response to request, and kept going till midday. Tho Mapourika began coaling immediately slio. discharged her passengers, and their baggage. She was still -a fireman short, and the strikors wero making every effort to- stop her from sailing by getting others ashore, but Captain Cameron expected to get a man. Tho crews of tho Kowliai and Karamu wero paid off this afternoon, and the Flora's crew will bo paid off to-morrow.
