HIGHLAND SOCIETY.
'A large meeting of Highlanders. Was held on Monday evening at Messrs. Turnbull and Co.'s auction room, when
it was unanimously resolved that a Highland Society bo formed in Wellington. A provisional committee was appointed to draw up rules and regulations. _ An enjoyable evening was passed enlivened by national music, dancing, and time-honoured Gaelic songs. A general meeting will shortly be held to receive the report of tho provisional committeo and to appoint officers. Tho promoters are confident that the movement will be a success. They stated that it has long been felt by Highlanders in Wellington and suburbs that such an association iB required tp promote Bocial intercourse amongst them, and to prosorve and cultivate a knowledge of the records and traditions of the race.
