Reference was made at the Town Hall last evening by Mr. 0. N. Bnoyertz to tho bard time the New Zealand Competitions Society was having owing to thtt •stoik'e. Tho committee was>,i or ccurso, glad for those present to be there, but ho thought thoy might do something amongst their friends to induce them to patronise tho entertain-, moiits. They had a lot of talent tins year, and some very excellent performances to offer. Mr. Baoyertz stated that tho expenses would he something like £1600, and if tilings did not improve the society might suffer a heavy loss. Ho hoped that tlioso presont would do their best to bring their friends along.
