(To the Editor.) Sir, —Wo aro enlisting special constabloß to assist the regular police. It is certainly a very wise precaution, too. But I think tho best help wo, the "nonparticipants' 1 in the striko can givo, unless wo enlist,'is to keep clear from the crowd of watorsidors and their enthusiastic (P) sympathisers, _ This would enable the polico to act with less discrimination, and they would then know that thoy .woro dealing with homo but tho "riotous." Let tho strikers realiso tlifit t'lie police haro cflpablo leader]*, but that their duties are purely "defensive," and not "offensive," Thanking you in anticipation,—l am, etc., ANTI-STRIKES.
