"FREE."

(To tho Editor.) Sir, —I notice that the most exciting items in the newspapers nt present aro thoso detailing tlm assaults, ohasinpr, hooting, etc., of "free" labourers and "freo" polico. Yet wo as Britishers delight in proclaiming our freedom under the British flag on sea and land. Therefore, should wo not ffelit for that freedom in act, to work, and to livo? At present it appears as though wo aro slaves, and' our masters consist of ii ■ few paid, loafing agitators, who Lave all the freedom of speech arid, action, and why not'turn tho tables and take this freedom away from them per medium of the "Black Maria"? Old fashioned slave-drivers wore caolod. Why not the now generation ? I also notice that tho executive of the Federation of Labour has ''wired' 1 to all cent-res calling upon their adherents to "doivn tools.' Surely the Government can object to their telegraphic service being used for this purpose? Coded telegrams should be stoppod unless addressed to and endorsed bv reputably firms or men. Wo notice that a bookmaker's nam© is "banned" by tho Post Office authorities. Why not ban tho agitator's correspondence? Tliey c?o more lxarm in one day, harm that is widespread, than one hundred bookmakers would do in a year.—'l am. etc., FREEDOM. October 30, 1913.
